Homelessness: Orange County Launches System of Care to Break Mental Illness-Addiction-Homelessness-Incarceration Cycle

Orange County is embracing a new approach to break the cycle of mental illness, addiction, homelessness, and incarceration.
 
On Tuesday, the Orange County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a system of care that incorporates enhanced mental health care, substance abuse treatment, and vocational training into its criminal justice system.

On Sunday, October 27, Orange County Supervisor Andrew Do – in conjunction with the non-profit Vietnamese Physicians Association of Southern California – will provide free cancer screenings, flu shots, vision exams, medication assistance, prescription glasses for kids, and other health services.

In March 2018, the County of Orange purchased the property at 265 Anita Street for $7.8 Million to create a wellness facility focused on access to mental, behavioral health, and substance abuse services.
